Baccarat Basics — A Beginner's Guide

If you're new to baccarat, don't worry — the game is actually very easy to pick up. The main objective is to predict whether the Banker's or Player's hand will land closest to 9. You can also bet on a Tie outcome. Each card carries its own value: numbered cards 2–9 are worth their face value, picture cards (Jack, Queen, King) and 10 are worth 0, and Aces are worth 1.

One question new players often ask is about the "third card rule." In standard baccarat, the decision on whether to draw a third card is handled automatically according to fixed rules — players don't need to make any decisions themselves. If the Player or Banker hand totals 0–5, a third card may be drawn based on a predetermined rule table. This makes baccarat simpler than blackjack, since there's no complex strategy to memorise.

Baccarat Strategies Popular Among hoki177 Players

While baccarat is ultimately a game of chance, there are several smart approaches that can help you manage your budget and make the most of your playing time. Experienced players at hoki177 Malaysia regularly use the following strategies as a basic framework.

One of the most popular money management strategies among Malaysian baccarat players is the Flat Betting system — you wager the same amount every round without increasing or decreasing your bet size. It's the safest way to extend your playing time and avoid heavy losses driven by emotional swings. Other systems like Martingale (doubling your bet after a loss) can deliver quick wins but carry significant risk of large losses during a long losing streak — use with caution.
